8v/16v exhausts,any difference?

Will an 8v 2.0 calibra take a16v exhaust including cat as my mate just bought a 8v calibra and got offered a cav gsi system as his cat has split from the downpipe to cat flange,before he wastes money on an exhaust that's no good.

From memory the down pipe's are diffrent, but I can not rember about the mid section, the rear box can take a 16v one in lou of the 8v one, I dont it to be rid of the single pipe...
