Re: v6 rev limit
OK - I've fiddled with the TC motor. With the engine off the connecting lever can be moved smoothly though its travel. With the engine ticking over it moves through about 5 degrees and then I can feel it coming up against the tip of a rotating cam or similar inside the motor stopping further movement - the lever vibrates as the motor rotates. Any help?
While I'm in TC territory, I had assumed that the traction control was switched on by means of the button near the base of the gear lever. Research into the manuals I have suggests that I have that the wrong way round, and that TC is ON when the car is started. The TC light comes on if I then press the button. It does not flicker at any point to suggest a fault.

Re: v6 rev limit
TC is on all the time, you do need to press the button to switch it off.

Re: v6 rev limit
It has been suggested to me that it could be the fuel pump. That fits most of the symptoms - like the limiting when I try to accelerate - and the temperature bit may just be that the hot day pushed a poorly pump over the brink. I'll do some checking up.

Re: v6 rev limit
I have replaced the fuel pump and filter. No difference. I now have a spare (if used) in-tank pump and filter. The next thing I shall attack is the throttle potentiometer. Watch this space!

That would depend on who you are.

Re: v6 rev limit
Throttle pot made no difference - if anything it's worse. Just aout ticks over once its warmed up a bit but any amount of throttle causes it to misfire. Can't even pull away in it now!

Re: v6 rev limit
You could try changing the coolant temperature sensor as the problem seems to come about when your car is warmed up. They only cost about £12.
Make sure you don't buy the temperature sensor for the gauge in the car which has a single connector on it
