Pressed metal number plates.

by Rob-se9 » Mon Jun 10, 2013 12:00 am

I brought some pressed metal number plates from PVS today with my reg on. Just curious to know if they're legal. I've done some research and some say yay and some say nay. With this research I've found that if your vehicle is registered before 2001 then the current number plate legislation doesn't apply as long as it's White and yellow with black writing. Is this right?

So how does that work when like my car the plates are correct, but since they got made long before the post code thing, they do not have that nor the other bit. Passed a good few m o t,s since that came in and at several centres as well

Never seen anything to say older cars without all that had to now change them. Never got a letter from dvla

Usual grey area no doubt

I'm total they aren't legal but mine aren't and never had any problems. Stick them on with velcro and keep the old ones in the boot.

Most probably, my number plates on the car ATM don't have the EU number on them or a post code etc. Probably due to the face they've been fitted pre 2001. So I could get away with them owning an older car theoretically? Guess I'll slap them on the car and see what happens lol.
