Just a random comment, looks like the 1.7:1 rising rate regulator.. mapping would be easier/cheaper on a typical 1:1 reg. unless im wrong, i seem to recall the rising rate one has that 10mm black middle section and the 1:1 doesnt.

Yes that's to rebuild the one I just bought!
Stu-I've got the old one if I have any issues, Ideally wanted to replace all fueling related parts, Best to swap for another then?

Well made a start today-Cleaned the whole bay-Was coated in oil, Had a chap out painting the chassis leg, As I badly marked it removing the engine-Finally dropped of subframe+wishbones off at powdercoaters.
Fitting braided hoses tommorow and hoping to have engine back middle of next week, Also got my 4x5l of GM 10w40 from Autovaux and filters for running it in, Just want the engine here BADLY!!!

Thought I'd put up a couple of shots (Excuse the dirt)
Oh and who says and astra mk4 steering wheel doesn't fit?

looks like the Vectra wheel that does ...and how much of the engine is being rebuilt ??

as far as i am aware your better with cheaper type oil to run in an engine to allow the rings to bed in, good oil is just that ...too good and will not be the best option

100% It's not the Vectra wheel, had 100s of vectras/astras through work and know the difference! The oil was cheap £36 for 4x5L through Autovaux, thats cheaper than supermarket oil

The engine is getting:-
16xNew Lifters
ACL Big/Small end bearings
86.5mm Wossner low comp pistons+rings/gudgeon pins
XE Block honed-rebored to 86.5mm (original block not repairable)
Keeping existing rods (Steel pec rods )
Block+Head skimmed
Cometic Head gasket
Timing belt/Water pump
Valves seats cut (Head rebuilt in last 17K)
ARP Studs top/bottom
Baffled Sump
New 8v bonmded sump gasket+rocker cover gasket
Oil pump staying as almost new

Pretty much everything bar crank/cams
