My Old Calibra. :)
Re: My Old Calibra. :)
Phew, made it, cars and persons in one piece, Zafira managed very well, going to get a project thread started asap, progress will be slow to begin with as the cars need a little more tlc than I first thought, I'll need to draw up a sensible budget as things could get out of control, It's a real shame to see Ians old car looking as it does,Previous has spent fortunes on the silver one, but seems to have neglected basic things!
I turned the engine over by hand, it's fine, seems the alarm system is inhibiting the starter, so know clue where to start there, any and all help appreciated. Anyway a couple of pics to get started:-

Ok undo the steering column, under there you should find the wires for the remote start, un solder them, the wires for the locking are if I remember are drivers side footwell, you will see a black block , un solder the two wires from that, that's the start.

Don't know, as its been sitting a wile worth trying the easy stuff first.
Could just be the starter ! I never had a problem with the starting of it but first place to look.

Cheers for the heads up Ian, but I've got a headachejust thinking about it! Lots and lots to do, at best If I sell the silver one, I'll get a cheap calibra but certainly not a "free" one! I'll start a project thread asap.

Re: My Old Calibra. :)
Take a wire from battery positive to the trigger wire position on the starter. Only touch it on for a couple of seconds. The starter should turn the engine over. If it doesn't turn over then the starter is knackered. If it does, it means something else (possibly immobiliser?) is stopping it from starting.

Re: My Old Calibra. :)
My first visit to the forum for a *long* time, I got myself an FTO just before xmas (using some of my redundancy money as the factory I was IT support at closed down mid Sept 2012, I was there doing closedown until mid Dec).
My SE5 has sat on the front grass since then with only an odd run out to pickup a ikea desk (no where near enough room in the FTO!), and since tax & MOT ran out she's SORN'd. I'm having trouble letting her go, keep starting her up every few weeks just to keep the engine running etc, wish I had somewhere to put her and get her back to full health (some sort of weird misfire type noise under acceleration yet seemed to cruise no problem).
Seeing this thread made me smile with your comments Splinter, as I'd like the same sort of thing for my SE5, can't bear to think of scrapping it.
