The remaining 4x4 Calibras

Many of you will have seen this month's TV with the analysis of numbers left. They seem to have been particularly thorough on the Calibra with, I think, all models included.

The figures show a dramatic reduction across the board in OTR cars in the past 2 years, over half gone in some cases, although some may have just gone SORN (2008 SORN figures are not available for comparison).

The figures for 4x4 cars, with the 2008 figures in brackets, are

16v OTR 11 (33) SORN 29
Turbo OTR 358 (648) SORN 231 (includes special editions not on V5, like the LE)
DTM Turbo 11 (19) SORN 5

and I know of at least 6 more Turbos scrapped since April.

For comparison, the figures for our sister under the skin, the Cavalier 4x4 are nearly as bad

8v OTR 46 (105) SORN 55
GSI OTR 46 (108) SORN 75
Turbo OTR 212 (281) SORN 109

The biggest reductions are in the standard 8v Calibra 1378 (3207) and especially the poor old 8v Cavalier SRi 1500 (4307).

Cavalier SRi 93 Satin Red

I don't think it is a mistake, it is an omission. None of the other cars in the article have as many variants covered as the Calibra and no claim is made that all are covered. There is no way for example of working out how many Calibras, or most of the others covered, there are left in total.

It is unlikely there are mistakes as the figures are produced by the DVLA for the SMMT who, I believe, have to pay for them.

I reckon looking at all the Vauxhalls on there, and the sudden de-creases in numbers, most of the cars will have been chopped in on the scrappage scheme :(

Thats rather sad, in oz i have not come across a 4x4 model. The only V6 I've ever seen is my own one... Rather sad as they are becoming harder and harder to find.

From what my family in Oz tell me, Calibra's are very sought after there, and worth quite abit of money.....anyone feel an export market coming on?? ;)

Sorry to go sort of off topic for a bit but.

I've spent about 20k on these things :| first two ones cost me 8K each, second two i picked up private sale for just under 1k because they are unroad worthy/ smashed

First one was completely stuffed and written off in mums death, bent like a banana it did..
Second one is my 2.5lt v6 and i love it to bits...

But it also depends on the state, but they are fkn costly for parts. Thats why i try to import things from overseas because it saves me up to 60% in price, i am keeping a massive eye out for a 4x4 version as i've never seen one... mine you i got one project i got to finish first as i have two 16v 4's one i am wreaking to fix the other, then ill continue with my v6

The White one is smashed in the front is not worth fixing... let alone passable on road worthy with engineering.. And the Grey one i got needs rear suspension replaced  so i should get they Grey up and running soon :)

I am also still looking for one with leather interior! i dream to have my v6 with leather interior and in 4x4 :) but we can all dream. but i think that dream is going to be massively pushed back... i am buying a house soon so i am super broke lol.

i posted a comment bout how many se6 were left too as only 55 were supposed to have been made yet they say there over 200 left on road so someone somewhere needs to take a closer look at the numbers
