the beast is back!!!

For all general things Calibra related

the beast is back!!!

by BazV6er » Sun Aug 01, 2010 9:57 pm

Ive recently had to take the v6 off the road due to oil leaks from around certain places as well as water leaks too , and despite what was said on.com regarding the overhaul of the cooler with the guys who came out from various places to help fix up the cooler and it was a very cold two weekend sundays so it doesnt matter that things leaked but thats water under the bridge now and as soon as payday comes around i will give you guys andy/mark what i owe,its been a very terrible time for me regarding money and deaths in the family as well as other stuff that got on top of me.and also thanks to v6steve for cooler

basically i wasnt sure whether to fit a external oil cooler as it could be a cheaper alternative and easier for future use but in the end i decided to renew all the parts from autovaux including new cam cover gaskets which fit perfectly and i havent sealed them with sealer and spent a few weekends cleaning down all the components and ready for refit with my brother in law who owned the black vectra v6 a few years ago and everything seems to be a success and no oil leaks. i still have to get rid of all oil thats remaining on the wishbones etc and see what the damage is on the mot as it had ran out due to taking it off the road.

and ive added a few touches :

cheers mate ive been thinking of changing the look of the engine bay but never really undid it all until when i stripped it all down just like you guys did before and we sprayed the cam covers a brighter red as well as the other bits you can see.

and brake cleaner is great stuff for cleaning dust and grime around throttle body, icv etc and i think its all paid off and given it a new look.

yep and we used plenty of brake cleaner to clean the mating surfaces as well as sealing the cooler plate and waiting around a week to add water and oil so now the car has had a few oil changes lol
