Tips needed on solving water in the passenger side footwell

by Richiem » Sat Aug 09, 2014 4:14 pm

Could find a right place to post a topic about this so i thought id add it here..
Ive got water coming into the front passengers footwell and its not coming from the heater matrix it seems.
Ive had the carpet out and the foam underneath to dry it out and also to help source were its coming from. Ive drove it for 2 days now and theres no water down there so it seems its not a leak from the water system but more likely water finding its way it to the car when it rains.
Also, im loosing no water from the system and the water has no coolant in it so it seems like rain water..
The dampness seems to be right up to the bulkhead above were the gear rod goes through. Would like to solve this mystery before putting the carpet back down if possible so thought id ask if anyone has had this type of leak before to help trace it..
The sunroof / door glass/ front screen have all been removed recently when the paint job was done so its possible it could be one of these places thats the issue.. Have looked at the sunroof water drains and they seem clear and ok !! Not sure which one could bring the water to the centre of the bulkhead area tho.

i just checked that and it was hanging off. Did clean it when i had the head of last week and it was gunked up and blocked! The other drain holes are ok and i just ran water over the car and it all drained out ok and no water inside..
Ill give it a week as we have some hard rain coming it seems so it will be a perfect test.. It might of even happened when the car was being painted as the car was moved outside a few times when in the shop and the sunroof ect was off/ on during the job. seems like it was under there for some time as the floor pan has started to rust were the water was sitting..

Have you by any chance replaced or removed the door speakers recently? Maybe during the paintjob? I found water coming inside the footwells when I replaced my front speakers - the fit wasn't perfect and water was running down the glass, inside the door and then in between the door skin and speaker inside the car :( Run your hand underneath the door panel if you find any water...
