Points or speed awareness?

by HOT-ROD » Mon Dec 04, 2017 8:08 pm

So..............I got a nice letter off Northumbria police today and it would seem they have a picture of me doing 37 mph in 30 in my work van. Now a few people have said I'll get points and a few have said I'll get offered a speed awareness course. I've not been caught "speeding" in over 20 years and was wondering what everyone thought I would get?

A couple of years ago I did the speed awarnes s course I got there and had to do a questionnaire thingie about for the carbon foot print sh1t. One if the questions was "how to you get here today" apparently the lady did not find it funny when I answered "a lot f#@king quicker than you. "

I think they offer you speed awareness so long as it’s under speed + 10% + 9mph so on a thirty, so long as you’re under 42mph. Fingers crossed!

You'll get the option of 3 points & a £100 fine or taking a speed awareness course, (the missis got caught by a camera doing 28 in a 20 zone last month).

You'll need to look up where they do them in your area, what times they run (usually half a day) & what they cost (usually around £50).

Personally, with a clean licence, I'd take the 3 points (3 points won't effect your insurance) & £100 rather then around £50 a lose the will to live for a day of my life!
