Engine in the black calibra is now totally stripped, complete mess interanally and nothing from the bottom end is salavageable but I put the blow up to fatigue which isn't bad I suppose for a 100k+ 'hard driven' engine.

Fortinately the head came away unscaved so thats where most of the work has been going. Parts everywhere at the moment, but can no one count to 16  ....14 of this, 15 of that, nightmare :cuckoo:

Head is currently with the man know only as Gary :icon_mrgr for him to work his magic but should be fully rebuilt by next weekend when I can start concentrating on the rest

Here's what's going in.....

Colsibro bronze guides

Image

Oversize valves, waisted stem on the inlet side and standard on the exhaust for obvious reasons

Image

Steel caps and platforms

Image

Vernier pulleys

Image

Double valve springs

Image

Cams

Image

Infact the only bits being re-used from the head are the followers, nice

Good to see an update.
Make sure your lifters are nice and flat and not concaved from wear if you're going to re-use them on new cams, else they will promote wear on the cams.

How much is gary charging for the headwork if you dont mind saying, still something on my to do list. are they 1mm oversize?

Lifters look to be in good condition, thought about buying the SBD ones but their is no real advantage so a bit of a waste of £150'ish.

Yea, the valves are the SBD 1mm oversize, will PM info about Gary.

Good work, I would personally change the followers after all that work. Shouldn't mix old with new.

Good to see some progress
I can't wait to have the money to continue mine, at least I have my scrapheap one to faff around with in the meantime.

Progress has been slow over the last couple of weeks, not helped that im working away at the mo and have very limited time on my hands but need to pull my finger out and start putting things back together :icon_mrgr

Is nice to get back every weekend and have a few new toys to play with though.

Bottom end is progressing, having a few bits powdercoated at the moment which should come back next week.

Will hopefully fit some these babies next weekend using Chips TV guide :icon_mrgr

Next up is a Z20LEH oil pump from the vxr, will need to get the pick up pipe custom made to suit but should flow better than the oe pump and has nice steel internals.

And picked up the crank yesterday, beaded knife edged polished and everything balanced up. Looks a lot nicer than when it went it came out the block :icon_mrgr

Yea, its a shame to get it all coked in oil. Tempted to rebuild the engine and make a coffee table out of it instead :icon_mrgr

Here's the pick up pipe that's gonna need to be modified. Would it be best to use the pick up at the end from this one or from the standard one?
