Re: SAMARAI's '91 Red Bute from Australia! :P
Photo Update
Was catching up with a mate and decided to take some photos at what im quickly calling my favorite part of my town.
Not bad for cameraphone photos
Hope you enjoy.
DAT ARSE
Leaving you with one of my fav's of the arvo.
Soon to do list:
Darkest legal tint.
Swap front suspension from white cali to red cali.
Colour code bumper/door trim, handles, mirror trim and rood racks.
Later to do list:
Lower <3 I really want to do it now. Not by heaps but enough to close the wheel arch gaps. So large atm I could almost sleep in there and I definitely fail the shoe test multiple times xD
Thanks for reading,
till the next update!

Photo Update.
I finally got round to colour coding my door handles, mirrors, door/bumper strips and roof racks!
All in the name of modernizing the looks of the car.
BEFORE
DURING
AFTER
Im quietly happy with how it all turned out!
------------------------------------------------
Calibra Meet Friday 30th Jan 2015
A few days later I set up a Calibra meet.
3 Calibras in total could come along and one of whom was a Turbo cali!
It was the first time I had ever seen one in the flesh! sooo sexy! and was the first time I had ever seen 3 calibras side by side in my town!
I was drooling all day :')
Enjoy
-----------------------------------
To Do list:
-Replace front shocks and hopefully at the same time lowering springs.
-Darkest legal window tint
-Eventually get onto some bonnet struts
-Install my footwell LED's from the white cali
-Swap the footwell turf for something else that's a suprise
-Polish and wax the car.

Thanks a ton mate.
Came out better than I expected. But may redo them down the track!
For now I'm happy with how the car looks,

hahah thanks man.
Red is so hard to maintain but to my eyes is a nice change from the white calibra I had before it for a few years!

UPDATE TIME!
Not much to update but here we go.
So firstly I decided to put in a new thermostat as the old one looked like this.
yucky I know but temp on the guage still reads as too cool even during aussie summer heat it almost never goes past 80 Deg. hrmm better a cooler running engine than a hot one. Aircon works really well too during this heat wave! so can't complain!
-----------------------------------------------------------
A few days later DISASTER! My cali had to be towed home.
My Altenator belt had snapped and disappeared altogether. Thankfully no damage was done to the rest of the belts around it and while i was at replacing the altenator belt I swapped the AC belt too. Couldn figure out how to remove the old Powersteering belt but maybe down the track i'll get to it! its not squeaking so its fine I guess.
----------------------------------------------------------------
And then I got my hands on a trip computer (Uber rare in Australia)
I loved the fact that it was plug and play, except for the air temp sensor that I had to wire in but that was plug and play too, p**s easy!
BEFORE Analogue clock
AFTER Trip Computer.
Im loving being able to fiddle and view the car's fuel consumption and range. May have to re calibrate it for my redtop, I have a feeling the fuel per 100km is still reading for the v6 it came from. but oh well. for now im happy i have a working clock again (as my old analogue clock wasn't working) and the outside temp reading is fun.
thats all for now folks, thanks for reading!

nope seems even with the new thermostat almost the exact same temp readings but yeah the new thermostat atleast looks so much nicer and cleaner.
yeah the analogue clock is very out dated, its quite nice having all the trip computer features like range of fuel left.

Update time!
So about a month a go I thought I had no choice but to sell my calibras.
Very happily, Im glad to announce I didnt end up having to sell my calibras. Financials balanced out thank God :')
So onwards with making my calibra my own
-----------------------------------------
Next to do is I bought some lowering springs a month ago and am dying to put them in.
Not sure how much of a drop I'll get so im a little nervous about the front tyres clearing the guard when turning. But it should be ok.
Here's are a few photos how she currently sits.
The half shots are me squatting and taking the photos. You can see the rears are definitely land cruiser spec hahaa.
While Im at it im going to do a front strut swap.
The drivers front shock absorber is so knackered that even over slight bumps in the road it rattles like a Mo Fo, and is very scary at speed around corners. So im going to do a swap from the front shocks of my old white calibra to my red calibra.
Im going to post a question in an appropriate thread about a step by step guide on how to remove/install struts but thought I'd ask here too, any good threads on how to do this? I haven't had any luck looking on this site and also clubcalibra.com :C
also will be removing the skirts after getting lowered as on of the skirts was damaged from a previous owner.
Something like this:

I think I like the clean look better anyway. If I find it looks too bare, the skirts from my white calibra will go on the red one. lets see how we go.
Our Eddey is importing some bonnet struts, so hoping to get them soon.
thats all for now folks.
Till next time
PS yes I know she needs a polish. She'd been sitting on the driveway for a month before last getting driven so she needs a little TLC soon. Holidays are about a week or so away. getting keen for car mod times

Re: SAMARAI's '91 Red Bute from Australia! :P
Update time.
Some new mods have gone in recently.
Bonnet struts, thanks to our Eddey!
Rear lowering Springs.
Before top, after bottom. (sorry for crappy photos) will have to put some better ones soon of the comparison in height.
(not as much of a drop as I'd hoped but definitely much better than stock height) will have to get some bigger rims soon and see what clearance I have.
And finally my very unique mod of Persian carpet in the footwells.
Definitely quite out there I know, but it's different and unique to me. Seeing people's reactions is priceless.
Cheers for reading.
Comments of any form are always welcome

Update.
Latest mod are my 17" Gram Lights rims. 17x7 and they fill the guards very nicely. I'm in love <3
Here are some photos.
To do list:
Replace from shockers + install lowering Springs + change all brake pads.
Tint windows.
Fix rattly exhaust.

Update!
So I ran a meet up in honour of Eddey Dancer visiting my town.
We had 3 calibras. A turbo, x2 redtops a manta and a vxr Astra. A great turnout at short notice.
Here's some pics.
And at the meet Eddey noticed my bonnet emblem wasn't a factory one.
I later realised my 91 model Calibra had a 95+ bonnet likely, so aka I have a debadged bonnet.
Before:
During: (badge peeled off after some TLC)
After:
How she sits now:
I'm so happy about this as the bonnet looks so much cleaner without it.
That's all for now.

Update time.
Not a big one but managed to source some ebay centre caps to fit my Gram Lights.
The front hubs have a thread sticking out of them so I needed special caps to sit over the top of them.
After some TLC and elbow grease, the caps are in.
Not bad for DIY $10 from ebay hahah
Soon to put Opel emblems in them.
