If that's a 8V baffle isn't there something that needs bending

Apparently so, one of the crank scrapers very slightly, but have span the crank and nothing catches.

Tiny bit of progress today although I was annoyed that I didn't have any head bolt washers and no one had them in stock so couldn't get the head on and everything timed up.

Starting to look more like an engine now although I want to sort out the turbo oil feed before putting on the brackets and ancillaries. Here's the new studs in place and cometic gasket..

New bottom pulley arrived on the weekend too, its slightly fowling the new rear guard but im sure when that is bolted at the top it should be fine.

In an ideal world yea but ive waiting a few months for the pulley and couldn't put everything on hold, not that ive progressed as much as I wanted :icon_mrgr . Don't really see it as an issue though as its only driving the auxillary belt

Hmm, not much progress lately, infact ive taken a few steps backwards this weekend.

Looks like the reason the crank pulley was catching on the rear guard is I think ive missed a washer behind this, anyone like to confirm if their should be a washer where the blue arrow is. Cant say I remember seing one

As it looks with the oil pump on

Image

Looks like I may of damaged the pump too as I have tightened the pulley right up against it as you can see from the below pick, and the gearing now don't turn. Will need to take it apart and check.

Image

O well, I wouldn't learn anything if I didnt make mistakes :icon_mrgr

And dont ask why the crank is out :headphone

There is a washer that sits in the oil pump on the outside face. It's about 8mm thick.

Engine is looking wicked by the way.:thumb:

Why's the crank out?

Haven't been home for the last few weeks what with one thing and another so not much progress made. Picked up some new .25mm oversize ACL bearings to replace the Glyco's and bought some plastigauge to check tolerences and all is good....

Image

Picked up the missing washer which was a bargain at £30  . My excuse for missing it is that the crank seal on the LEH pump is a different size to the standard let so have ordered a new one of those today for another extortinate vaux price of £20!

All internals are back in so should hopefully get it timed up and head on this weekend

Made some good progress this weekend. Saturday was spent finishing the internals on the bottom end so am back to where I started a few weeks ago. Hopefully get everything timed up next weekend and that will be the engine finished .

Spent today prepping the gearbox for painting, from this

to this

Fun job <note to myself, get a bigger wire brush next time :icon_mrgr>

Still undecided whether to go for black to match the rest of the engine or pipe to match all the pipework
