How I envy you UK based owners

The other day I went searching for replacement handbrake shoes. I contacted a local 'brake specialist' here in Sydney who had to 'look up' some listings... no dice. Unavailable I was told. But, he could bond new linings to my old frames...

That's ok... it's only a handbrake right. Damage?

$66 or approx £40... 1 week lead time. Seriously?

I can land oem UK product and absorb the freight charge (over 10,500 miles) and the parcel knocks on my door for less money.

Nigel, if you're looking for a real challenge...

Back on topic...

Well I've been putting this job off for far too long due to my fears and phobia of working under raised vehicles. The rear is now on support stands and needless to say is rock solid enough for me to climb in underneath.

Pics of how things are currently...

Had these coated with KBS after being cleaned up. The colour of the finished product might not be to everyones taste but I'm very happy with the result so far.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I've finished cleaning up the underbody and it's now painted with bitumen. Pretty clean under there TBH. I just need to wait for the top coats to harden and then get the hubs pressed back into the arms which will probably be early next week and then it's ready to go back in.

Painter is currently working on the bars and skirts as we speak so not far off now.

Fitted up some front footwell lighting which I connected to the courtesy lamps I have in the lower rear cards. The switch on these lamps lets me turn off all footwell lights otherwise they operate via the door switches with immediate off, no time-delay...

PS the pic shows them as much brighter than they really are.

Looks good - Have been thinking of something similar myself, dark in the garage etc but then I thought it will just have me vacuuming the mats more!!

Thank you.

I'm having a few difficulties with the painter ATM TBH.

But after explaining to him that they're can only be 1 winner in these types of situations I'm pleased to say he has now come around
