Question - 2 switches for 1 bulb

switch
IF Remote box
The remote box has 3 wires:-
Red - battery live
Black - battery negative
Yellow - to the bulb
Wiring as follows, batt pos to switch and remote box (red). from switch to bulb and from remote box (yellow) to bulb. Remote box black to batt neg. bulb neg to battery.
my question is this, I want to be able to use both the switch and the remote box to turn on the bulb. Will wiring this way fry the remote box by sending a positive feed from the switch up the yellow remote box wire ?? if so will a zenith diode stop this and and whats, err what's the measurement for diodes ??? or is there something better?? told you I knew the bare basics lol

Essentially this is correct and it will work as such.
However you will need to add a dioide to stop the back feed into your unit. Just check current ratings and voltage ratings for the diode.
I am currently doing a HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
What exactly are you making?
Give us an e-mail if you get stuck.

I think that this is what you are creating.
The only down side of doing it this way is that if activated by your remote box you cannot switch it off by the switch.
If you want to be able to switch it off i will draw you another circuit.
Hope it helps

Cheers trev, have sorted it now, I went to maplin and told em and they sold me a 2x 6p diodes I tested em and it worked ok so I fitted em.
What am I doing? I have roughly 20 LED's and abot 80 more going in various hiding places on the inside on my car. They work in 2 ways :-
1) open car door with switch 1 off - you get only the int light
2) open car door with switch 1 on - you get int light + all LED's
3) press remote button from 50ft away and you get all the LED's regardless what poss switch 1 is in.
Brain was mashed after working all them out with my little knowledge but it works great
