Cigarette Lighter Backing Light

The bulb that lights up the cigarette surround had blown, so i bought a led off e-bay to repplace it and turn it red! However when i put it in it doesn't work . Any suggestions? Does this light come on with the sidelights as well as main beams? As mine has never worked, then i don't know!!

I've got it to work!! Just a case of fiddling with the led!! Looks wicked in red tho, a vast improvement!!

I was gonna say swap the polarity because it's an LED

it comes on when you turn the key and stays always on. That's why it is common to be blown, like the heater panel.
