Any electrical issues

I replaced my alternator. The new one was a deco remmy (spelling??) they are re-con units. That's what they do apparently?!
That was knackered because it had been on the shelf so long. All the bearings had dried up. It was noisey and then started failing a few weeks in. It went back. I replaced it and the one I have now if fine.
Could just be bad luck mate.

Well at least you've got to the bottom of the prolem now. As others have said it is not that uncommon to have problems with replacement alternators. Unless you want to pay £150 for one they will all be remanufactured. As such the bearings etc. will all be remanufactured. However a lot of the time the voltage regulators remain untouched.

had the same problam with my cally. it was the earth from the gearbox. put a jump lead from the battery earth to the alternater body and see if the voltage rises

well, I earthed the bulb directly to the alternator body and it lit up..... thought that was a good enough test of the alternator earth really..... perhaps not?
anyway, its in now being swapped for new alternator, so if it comes back still with problems I'll have another gander at the earthing.
Cheers
