Let Ignition Problem
<!--QuoteBegin-G1C+--><div class='quotetop'>(G1C)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I have had the diagnostic bloke down today and he says the coil is still only putting out the 1 spark it just looks more rapid, after a bit of bit of head scratching and testing here and there he says it is defo the ecu or the sensor ring on the crank.
So I am sending my ecu's down to a mate to try on his car and if they are both ok it looks like it's going to be an engine out job and bottom end strip down, I can't see what can go wrong on the sensor ring but it is the only thing that is not new and is part of the ignition setup so will have to give it ago.
I will keep you posted.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
it wont be the sensor ring TBH, if that broke up you would have much bigger issues (and i have never seen one break)

T.F.S.
I sent my ecu's down to a mate and he tried them on his car for me and both work fine so this morning I have dropped my engine out and removed the crank to remove the exiter ring as it is the only thing left to try now and has to be the problem, I checked the resistance on the impulse sensor while turning the engine over and there is no change in the signal.
So I will get a new ring ordered tomorrow I aslo have a spare wiring harness now just in case, I will let you know how I get on towards the end of the week.

WTF no change at all?? the sensor definately ok? you've tested the sensor with a lump of steel?
Did you do as i suggest and look through the sensor hole and visually check the teeth? as TFS says they're either there and they work, or they arnt there pretty much.. its just a fairly mild steel pressed plate as far as i can remember, unless its simply missing, or loosened itself and fallen off it has to "work". there ought be nothing anywhere near it to damage it. visual examination through the sensor hole should be all thats needed to determin if its at fault or not..
sorry, but unless you find the "ring"/plate loose then i think you're wasting your time, if its loose you could tighten it up without stripping the crank out, however its probably mashed itself up by then i guess and needs replacing.

Toyota Mr-2 roadster turbo
I got the sensor ring and crank back in place and the rest of the engine all built up today, I wired it all up on my engine stand turned it over and I now have all my sparks which I am well happy about.
So next weekend I should get the engine back in the car and running so looks like it was the sensor ring but when I held it against the new ring there was no noticeable difference but what the hell it works.
I would just like to say a big thanks for all your ideas and help with my problem and am finally glad to be on top of it.
Cheers

It was located as it should be with no signs of worn teeth, cracks of distorsion but it has to be that, So yes I will be frameing it as it has cost me a bloody fortune. But the main thing it sparks so can not wait till next weekend to get if put back in.
Cheers for the help and ideas stu, much appreciated and to the rest of the club.
