Ambient Air Temperature Sensor

by fraggie » Wed May 17, 2006 2:26 pm

Hi guys

Ive just fitted a trip computer and found that the car doesn't have an ambient air temperature sensor. After looking in haynes ive found that it should be located on the nearside on the front bumper somewhere.

Ive been over to vauxhall and got a new sensor for it but i cant find the plug for it anywhere all we can find is the wires for the front headlights and the wires to the horn. Also near the headlight wire is the wires that go to the horn and another plug which looks far too big for the sensor.

To this plug there is a black and yellow wire and a brown wire.

What wires does the sensor require for the trip computer?

Cheers guys

thats fantastic matey!

Just for anyone reading this thread in the future mine wasn't wired up at all with a plug for the sensor.

Therefore for the trip computer you have to find the two wires which are wired up to the sensor (blue+white and blue) These can be found below the relay box in the engine compartment in an 8 wire terminal block (with nothing coming out of the other side) on the rear nearside of the engine compartment.

All you need to do to add in the sensor is extend the wires down to the front of the engine bay and down to the bumper where the sensor fits and find a way of attaching the wires to the pins on the sensor!

Hope that helps someone
