V6 Unplugged!!!

by JesterV6 » Thu Jun 15, 2006 11:33 am

I am in the process of stripping the interior due to a shed load of water on the passenger side footwell...caused by the smallest of holes on the floor it would seem.

Anyway, opened the bonnet to disconnect the battery (don't want the tensioners going off in my face) and i found a plug...that wasn't plugged in!

Can anyone identify this for me? It's in the top right corner of the engine bay, to the right of the fuse box, and has about 7 multi-coloured wires going into it.

Thought i should ask before i plug it in and cause any probs.

By the way...how sensitive are the tensioners? I have to take the seats out to get the carpet out, and i'm getting nervous :icon_pale

and yes you can plug it in no problems, thats the plug where you short the pins with a paper clip to read any fault codes when u get them

Ahh right...wonder why it was unplugged...would it stop the car going into limp mode if unplugged?

When you reinstall the seats, do you then take the pretensioner safety key out?

dunno mate, always had it plugged in, plug it in and if the engine management light comes on when you start it then you may find out why its been unplugged, or maybe someone forgot to plug it back in when it was plugged into a diagnostic machine

have a look here and it tells you all about the plug and how to read codes etc

sorry haven't gotta clue on the seats issues, never done it before

The diag plug makes no odds plugged in or not. It only plugs into a plastic support to stop it flailing about.

Does sound like that is the plug you are on about.

Just checked the elephant trunk too...full of sludge!!

Cleaned that, so now onto the seats...if i'm not back in an hour, it means i messed something up with the pretensioners
