Error code 41

Right, so I've replaced the ECU globe and now can read codes, I'm getting code 41, I know there are two possible faults for code 41, but what does it mean (in English), and where do I start looking for faults. (Car is 2.0l 16v Turbo (not 4x4))

My list of codes says 'vehicle speed sensor' & '1st gear ident switch' both of these connections are located on the gearbox, one goes to the speedo, the other to the ECU to limit boost when the car is in first gear. [img]/smile.gif[/img]

My car does boost in 1st gear, do you think it's possible that they bypassed this feature, and that's why the ECU light keeps coming back on, btw the globe had been removed when I bought the car!, and what does "vehicle speed sensor " mean? The speedo seems to be working fine.
