Faulty alarm

by L337 calibra » Thu Nov 02, 2006 1:01 am

The past few days my alarm has been going off at least twice a week, and today its just gone off twice in the space of an hour.

I investigated and found out the led is showing system fault going by this.

Turn key fully left and the led flashes instantly, while I was playing around with it I noticed that the button to turn off the rear sensors does nothing, the led normally comes on for a few seconds and then goes out, well at least on mums cav it does.

Compared the flash rates also to mums car hers goes fla-flash fla-flash mine is just flash flash flash.

Anyone think it could be the sensors at fault and this is why the button does nothing?

The normal sort of arming sequence has the LED flashing 'steadily' for about 10 seconds.
(from your description I would think that would be 'flash flash flash flash flash flash flash flash flash flash"

You should be able to read the alarm fault codes (if any..) out using the paperclip method
(have a quick search if you're not familiar with it, I'm sure the pins for the alarm codes were covered recently..)

Ok will earch for the fault codes.

I forgot to mention that mine does not do the 10 seconds led on then flash, it used to as I remember checking it once or twice ages ago and seeing it lit then start flashing.

unless theres a door or sommit open when you arm the alarm the LED should be on statically for a while then flash

Yes checked all that, made sure light goes out in boot, doors shut windows/sunroof shut.

I found this http://www.v6calibra.com/alarm/v6calibra_atas.htm and shall be trying that tomorrow althou ive been pressing the "pet" button while I was looking at what was wrong so probably cleared it so I might have to wait for it to do it again.

At the moment its just locked and not deadlocked so the alarm isnt on to annoy the neighbors lol.
