Headlamp aim - Horizonal?
Is it possible to adjust the horizontal headlamp aim?
Noticed this the other night while out driving in mist/fog...noticeable with the HID's as they give a much brighter beam...(although its probably been like this from new, just never noticed before)...the N/S beam is pointing over to the right at what looks like almost 45 degrees....im pretty certain it shouldnt be like that although someone tell me if im wrong.
So can it be adjusted, like in the same way the vertical aim can be set for MOT's?
Thanks

You have factory fitted HID's??
When im parked infront of a wall or my white garage door, the beam looks OK...just looks at a mad angle when in mist and fog.
Back when i had my Cav, im sure someone said they could adjust both the horizontal and vertical aim...i dont think horizontal aim is something they check at MOT either.

Mine always seem to be high on the N/S but when I checked with the guy at MOT time he said "no thats fine".

I'm fairly certain that all modern headlamp beams should throw a section of light to the left, (near side) rather than the right, (off side) to help illuminate the kerb or road edge/white line markings/discarded mcdonalds boxes.
Maybe the MOT check doesn't test for this.
I have recently stripped down a spare pair of Cally headlamps, and the dip and main beam reflectors are mounted on several long screws, with a little rubber sleeve touching the reflectors themselves. So you could mess with that I suppose, if you had a whole day available to check each change after putting the lamps back in the car and removing/stripping down for further adjustments etc etc. But you'd have to be careful, as you might light up the birdsnests instead of the road!
Hope this helps.
Pete.
