Windows only operating when door switch earths ??

Hi, I need some electrical help. My electric windows are not operating when the doors are shut. However when I open the door thus triggering the earth on the door switch (ie interior light comes on) then the windows work. How can that be ? An earthing problem ?

I would appreciate some expertise I have had everthing apart looking for the problem , but can't work it out

have you checked the relays?

also check the door connector itself, the plugs often get water in them and corrode, give it a good clean and go from there no need to strip the door down for that.

also does it do that with just one door or both?

It does it on both windows. You can see the windows bottons on the centre consol light up once the door opens. Then when closed they go off. I disconnected the door connecter and reconnected it. I have looked at the fuses in the fuse box and swapped them.

Also I have noticed my electric wing mirrors are not now working.

so you have changed the relay then,does it work?

Just been outside and rechecked fuse box. There was a 2nd window fuse -replaced this - cleaned the door connectors and bingo. All working again. Including mirrors.
