alternator V6 not charging

hiya,
not getting any charge from the alternator
battery light stays on while engine is running,
the last time i ran with this alternator was over 5yrs ago but it was working when i removed it.
checked the connections and there is a very good earth to the engine block and alternator casing, got 12v at the positive terminal on it.
before i fitted it i couldnt turn the pulley so sprayed the bushes and it freed up and spun freely by hand before i fitted it.
i`m thinking its knackered but anyone out there have any other thoughts on this?

the engine blew over 5yrs ago, i stripped all the parts off and kept them in the boot, the car was garaged for 2yrs but then i had to keep the car outside, its only now that i`m able to get on with the job off getting the car road going again.
want to salvage as many parts as i can but if i need to buy new then i will.
the alternator was working fine before, connected the 2 wires up on the back.

i`ll check the fuse, No2
not holding up much hope.

problem solved, bought new alternator and getting over 14v now, firm sent wrong one initially but after a phone call sent right part.
think i`ll strip old one down just to see if anything looks dodgy.
