Got some sort of repair on the coil! Anyone seen this before

Just been going thro all the parts on the engine bay on the turbo and noticed that the blue wire that comes of the top of the coil has been cut into and had a black wire spliced into it that runs up to the top of the bay and into the loom were lambda sensor connects!
Anyone seem this type of repair before and maybe know why it would be done?
Im thinking it maybe that the loom has a broken wire in it and this is a fix.?
Other than that , ive not seen this done before and was thinking it might be a known fix of some kind??

Got an interesting reply from another site, been advised it could be coming from the alarm system and is used to kill the car if alarm set off???
Someone else also has a clifford alarm fitted and has the same thing on his!!

Guess seeing as the car is not far from that age it could of been done back in the day!!
