power connection

inside the car, where are the ignition live wires? got an amplified splitter box for my dvd player to screens and need to connect the power cord to a + and - 12v source.if i connect straight to the ciggy lighter socket, which is + and which is -? at the back of the socket i have a 2 pronged connector, one has 2 black wires going to it, the other has a brown wire going to it.

Black is +12V, Brown is - (minus.. but it aint really, it should be called 0V but what the hay) I'm sure Ive told you all this before

This colour coding is standard throughout the entire car (with a few exceptions) and is common to other Vauxhalls. Now do I win a free sun-visor screen (I hear you've got a spare [img]/biggrin.gif[/img] )
