My car locks and unlocks itself when on charge, Help please!

Any electrical issues

I was gonna start installing my sub today so to be safe I disconnected the battery positive and this caused the alarm to go off.

About 6 hours later I tried to drive the car and the battery was almost completely flat. I hooked up the mains battery charger and was gonna leave it to charge for a few hours overnight but as I walked away the car central locking started unlocking then locking the car every 10 seconds.

Is this something to do with the immobiliser?
Relay maybe?
Or ECU is having a paddy cos it had no power for a few minutes.

Help please

Cheers

You must disconnect the battery terminals from the car while charging.. Also release the caps on the top of the cells assuming its a non-sealed type to prevent dangerous pressure building up inside the battery.

Yeah don't charge a connected battery because when it charges it creates a higher potential difference across the terminals which may cause your electrics to throw a right wobbly!

hope this cures it for you.

Cheers guys

I just assumed that you charged a battery the same way you jump start a car. Oh well, live and learn!!
