Good old map point!

i was driving back from work today. it was raining. i had this light on after a 20 minutes run and wouldnt go off. i parked after 10 minutes and switched the car off. I started the car again and stepped on the brakes and the light went off. after 2-3 minutes it came back on. what is it for? is it something realy important? does it have to do something with the breaks? how do i find out what is the problem and fix it please?

cheers

its a brake bulb failure warning light, should light up when you first start the car and go out when you press the brakes

Looks like you have a faulty brake light bulb

My k reg does this when its raining its water getting into the back light, on the bulbs, i think the car picks up the resistance changing and thinks the bulbs gone.

ABS Light

As said about 3 times already its the brake light warning bulb. If the bulb isn't gone, then its a dodgy connection most likely..
I do believe i heard somewhere one of the bulbts is linked somehow to the brake fluid level yeh, but if that level is ok then its going to be dodgy connection on the brakelight bulbs porbably, forget if they look burnt or not.. while the light is on the dash do both brakelights work? I have a feeling the fluid level thing is the ABS light not the light we're on about. i cant remember.
