A while back I asked about changing locks, and people mentioned a transponder. I didnt think I had one, but ive took my key and my spare apart and found this.Image

that looks to be the chip yes, if you take the cowling off around the steering column the reciever is a black plastic bit around the barrel, if you have that then you know for sure, bit of a bugger to take it off just to look though, which year is the car? the late ones had them and i know the last eco i had was immobilised like that admittidly it was a vectra so a bit newer. Our N reg cavalier has a transponder as well.

Yea, mine is a 97. Made me feel a bit better knowing its got one. Lol. I thought they were like the ford keys that are totally different to a normal one.
