im still having bother with the abs light so tonight i decided to dismantle the clocks and cut the feed to it and get a new one from the oil pressure light, they both share the same earth when i checked with multimeter so i just cut the feed for the abs light and bridged it from the oil light, put everything back together, put battery ona nd o/s sidelight came on, thought oh no but i persevered and started the car up and the sidelight went off and works fine now, but the abs light doesnt come on ata ll now, the oil pressure still does, ive checked and all connections are fine, is there summit i dont know about?

before anyone comments saying its dangerous, this is only a temp fix to get through mot cos im running out of retest time and got no money for a spee sensor

Surely it would have been easier to just take out the ABS bulb for the MOT.

i agree with robbie. Should have taken the bulb out. No idea on the problem tho. Might be an idea to consult mr haynes and his wiring diagrams. You may be able to trace the circuit back to something you havenot thought of.

done it, the wiring had crack the solder when i twisted the bulb, works ok now, now i need another favour, when you put the key to ignition the lights come on, but i need to know does the abs light stay on till you start the engine like the oil pressure light? just so i can try and fob the tester off incase he says owt.

i would have removed the light but the test has already took place so i cant just say the bulbs gone cos theyll know why.

abs tell tale goes off before you start your engine. Key position 2 and 3 seconds later its gone out.

indeed so u cant tap it off the oil pressure light, i hate people that do this and then sell the car so people dont know. its not handy when u think all is well then slam the brakes on to find yourself sliding out of control lol

i knew someone would say this, thats why i said its just a temnporary fix, i hate those people too but this is just cos im running out of time and need it done quick, and who said owt about sellin the car? just abs anyway, takes longer to stop with it.

It may take longer to stop but with it you can steer around the object and maybe avoid going sideways or backwards

its ok mate, ive sorted it now, all was fine but the bulb moved the soler when i twisted it and it was contacting with a dry bit.

nope, any weather, abs will be slower, abs is there to give you control under braking, not to stop you quicker, a car without abs will stop quicker as long as you use gearing and dont lock the wheels up which doesnt take an expert driver as everyone should have been taught this when they did emergency stops when learning to drive, the reason i say abs shouldnt be on learner cars nowadays!

"a car without abs will stop quicker" WRONG!!!! stopping a car without triggering the ABS will stop quicker not just a car without it

So are you saying to change down?

If you are then you will fail your driving test as you have taken your hand from the wheel before the car has come to a stop.
