Don't think fitting the switch will make any difference, as the contacts are open apart from when you press them. Could be a faulty computer, was it working before?

yep came from ebay, the bulb was blown in it so i replaced it to see if power was getting to the comp and it is so maybe it is faulty.

Sounds knackered to me. There's isn't a lot else you can do with it that i know of, other than change the bulb and check the connector which you've already done.

Did you check the pins to make sure none of them are bent etc.

Trip comp has now decided to work, read in owners manual that if voltage to it is lower than 7v it will need the battery disconnected for 2mins to allow it to reset itself. My battery is on its way out and sometimes is just about able to start the car, so it appears to be droppin the voltage to the trip comp when I crank the engine.

Still having a few probs with trip comp, works sometimes when you start the car but other times it just goes off or flashes at me.
