Can anyone help - V6 fuel computer
Hi its the same engine all through its life from 1993 till 1998. The C25XE engine was first launched in March 1993 for the Cavalier and then in October 1993 for the Calibra, The Cavalier V6 was discontinued in 1995 and up till that time both Cav & Cally had V6 engine covers "V6" and then "ECOTEC" after
This info was supplied to me from Vauxhall couple of years ago and we all know what vaux are like
And then again ive also heard that there were some V6's the last ones with X25XE engines in, so who knows

But not me...
Mine's a 97 model so it has the X25XE with auxiliary air injection, but no EGR.
The only change to the C25XE I'm aware of was in 94 or 95 when the immobiliser was added to the ECU, no specific mechanical difference between the red and black tops though.
You know the X25XE by looking at it, as it has the aux air pipework and valve at the left hand side of the front of the engine, look for something like a salt dispenser made of stainless steel attached to metal pipework.
Ian.

Yeah, I agree about the Vectra and Omega.
I've rebuilt the Veccy V6 engine and it's just the same in all the mechanical places, the parts are interchangeable with the C25XE. Mine really is an X25XE - the difference is subtle, but the change to X denoted that it has more stringent emissions, meeting the new standard of that time. The inlet on mine is identical to the C25XE, it's just the aux air injection and (apparently) revised cam followers to lower the engine noise that are different.
I'll see if I can find something that gives more info... This had me puzzled for a while too. Incidentally, the Veccy X25XE won't fit under the bonnet of a Calibra without some lowering of the engine, so that will be why the inlet from the C25XE was retained.

OK... here you go, I've just looked this up in TIS:
Exciting eh? That was in the 'new technical features for 1997 section.
Hope it helps,
Ian.
