Low voltage at pump, suspected aftermarket alarm
Re: Low voltage at pump, suspected aftermarket alarm
I total agree Dan, I'll be addressing it as next port of call.
Like you say that parts wrong atm. Even if it's te problem or not.

Smear some Vaseline on your ball sack, touch that on one of the alternator terminals & the end of your knob on the other whilst having an assistant start the engine.
Post a vid of the result as we can determine the level of current being generated by the alternator by the expression on your face.

I'd be impressed if it were a V6 & he did it from the top!

Ok,
I took battery off calibra and fitted it to Mondeo and with it running I get 14+v
So I fitted Mondeo battery to calibra and still only got 13.5v (but it reads 12.9 when not running)
Next I cleaned the terminals on alternator one from alt to engine and one to starter motor.
Sadly it made no change.
Can I remove it and spray loads of carb cleaner in it? Or would that be a waste of time? The car the engine came from had been sat in a barn for I don't know how long. All the Ali is very oxidised.

Re: Low voltage at pump, suspected aftermarket alarm
I've fixed it, I've fixed it.
It was the hose in the tank.
The return hose that feeds into the bottom of swirl pot wasn't connected to underside of top plate so the returning fuel was going everywhere and not all into pot. So pump was emptying it faster than it could fill so it was not putting enough fuel up to rail.
She drives good and strong now
And now it runs properly it's charging battery and voltage across battery crept up to 13.9v then the fan kicked in.
Just oil leak to sort

Then I removed the wires from the pump! and checked voltage!
And it read 12.3v
So the 9v I got befor when wires where still attached to pump must of been reading the voltage drop across the pump.
So low voltage at the pump is not the issue with its running.
In short I was doing it wrong lol.
I am getting 12v at pump
