brake pad sensor

by Tattooman » Mon Jun 13, 2005 1:04 pm

i have a 1995 calibra 2.0 16v. i have had a v6 brake kit fitted(calipers, discs, pads). my original sensor won't fit inside the caliper thus i have the orange light on the dash constantly.would a v6 brake pad sensor attach to the wiring harness of my car and fit inside the pad or is it a different fitting? i assume it would just be a case of unplugging my sensor from the harness and plugging in the new v6 sensor?

Don't know. You could go to a main dealer and ask to see both sensors and check that way. Alternatively you could short the sensor to get rid of the light in the dash.

Yep, strip the two wires back and tape/bond them together.

Dan,you mean cut the connector off the end that goes into the caliper then join the two wires together?

Yes. I had to do this with my brake conversion.

Yeah..i was able to pull the connector apart without removing the pad sensor and worrying about having to tie it off somewhere. Just put a small piece of fuse wire in the two holes on the top part of the connector you will find attached to the inner wheelarch, i then pushed it back together and the light was out on the dash!..yipeeeee no more annoying dash light...one on each front wheel. Just remember to keep an eye on pad wear!

Yes that'd work, did this to a mate's car, no probs.
Also had a go a hacking/filing down a set of 16v pad sensors to fit my v6 pads on my old cally after vaux sold me the wrong ones. That worked too but lot of effort...
Easiest way is to shove a paper clip in the pad-sensor connector then tape up with a bit of insulating tape - no probs!
