ECU problems again!
2l Ecotec (Siemens ECU/sensors) M reg (95) Cally. Had cam and crankshaft sensor problems about every 6 months for last 2 years. Per local backstreet garage, (says he's a Vauxhall specialist and has a Tech 2) it's definately only the cam and crank sensors, so have replaced them several times, but it seems to be fine for about 6 - 9 months then the EMS light comes on again (with limp mode), intermittently or on random either straight away or after some time basis, irrespective of weather or engine temperature. It's driving me MAD!!!!! This time, we still had cam sensor problems until we replaced the wire to cam sensor too (but with a 2nd hand one), and I think, from what I've read on this forum and related links, that what I really need to do is to get the whole ECU sensor loom, or certainly the cam, crank (and possibly other sensors?) re-wired and re-connecored (+ ECU pins?). Trouble is, I've phoned around loads of local so-called auto electricians and none of them are prepared to do it, or say that they can't get shielded wire or can't get the connectors and pins, etc.... VX dealer being usually totally un-helpful - so what do I do? I really want to keep the car, but it's got to be reliable and I refuse to be beaten when surely this can be cured.
Has anyone re-wired and cured their problems? Is it worth doing? Where can I find someone to do it and what do I need to replace? Where can I get the pins, connectors and shielded wire? How much is a VX new loom (I know expensive - but they couldn't even tell me that when I phoned them!) and what bits do I need? Is there anything else which I should check out first before I re-wire - no-one else seems to have a clue - they all talk the big talk, and say that there's lots of things which it could be, but when I take the car to various mechanics all they say is that it's the sensors (again?) - presume that's all that the fault codes are reading. It seems now that I've got to take the lead in this and tell them what to do, because all they're doing is costing me money and not actually solving the problem!
Cheers for any possible help; getting desperate.
p.s. I live near Stockport / Buxton - anyone recommend me anyone in those areas who could help?
pps - anyone wanna buy an M reg Cally??? Nice black leather seats, lovely engine... Nice lady owner for last 2 1/2 years, ever so carefully driven, honest.

I've got the same problem too. How annoying...
At least do u pay for the sensors each time? I've changed 4 camshaft sensors the last 15 months all covered by the warranty of the first one as i changed it to vx.
I hope you solve it out and let us know. I also suspected the wires and the connections from the first time

i have had this problem to... looks like a a bug the car has wish i knew once and for all how to stop it .
replace ALL the sensors Grrrrrr
asked VX what to do and this is what they said about the sensors
either get a local garage to take them off then bring them in, BUY more new ons then we will send the old one off to get checked if they are found NOT to be faulty then no refund
OR
Let VX take the car and test them but if found not to be the prooblem specified you are lible for the labour!!!!... we all know how much that would be!
