me oil light.........and..

hi folks, my oil light is on constant but has plenty of oil, what else could it be or is it and electic fault?? and i have a strange noise not loud but chinging? but today i was at standstill and if i put me clutch in it stopped and when i let it out it keeps on chinging,{embarrasing at the traffi lights}lol any ideas peeps, would be mega chuffed, thx sarahxx

hey ya! doubt if ya still havin the problem by now (been a long time and i've just joined). Try connecting the wire from the oil pressure switch to ground. the switch is screwed into the oil pump on the inlet manifold side of the engine, think ya have to go underneath to get to it. If ya light goes out when you connect the cable to ground then you've either got an oil pressure problem, or the switch is knackered (more likely cause). sorry, can't help with clutch noise.

In addition to bagaz'z post, If your oil light is a low level light and not a low pressure light (as you haven't specified in your first post) - check your manual - then the main culprit usually is the low level oil sensor going ****'s up. This is located in your sump.

In adition to prev posts..

The noise is probably from release bearing in clutch 'housing'. The part it self costs 10-15 £ , but You need take the main shaft half way out off gearbox.

Fairly easy , but a bit time consuming
