Airflow Meter cable

by kmlabs » Mon Dec 05, 2005 10:44 am

I've had a few problems with my airflow meter over the last year or so (see threads <a href="http://www.clubcalibra.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5110" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.clubcalibra.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16102" target="_blank">here</a>), but finally we think we've traced it to a worn/broken wire in the loom.

I need a new plug, with as much cable as it's possible to cut off with it. I'll be heading to the breaker's yard at the weekend, but in the meantime has anyone got one I can buy?

Is that a resounding NO, then? =)

Are you sure the prob is with the wiring?

I had big running and idling probs, engine light on and off, eventualy VX solved it by tye-wrapping the AF meter plug securely to the meter in a fig of 8 fashion very tightly, it made all the difference.

Ive tried since to tak the ties away and tighten the lugs in the connector to no avail, tie wraps just make the prob go away.

Just try it out.

Hope it sorts it for you.

PS The wraps go all the way around the AF METER, collecting the edges of the connector on their way, you know what i mean when you look at it.

Let us know if it sorts it

Well, it seems to have sorted it. I couldn't find any switch cleaner at work and I couldn't be bothered to go into town to get it, so I cable-tied the plug tightly into the socket, and it's been sweet as a nut since. Fingers crossed!

Anyway, cheers guys - and Merry Christmas to you all! (That goes for everyone on the site, not just this thread)

=)
