Can a faulty fuel pump relay cause a missfiring feeling under hard acceleration?

Cheers.

well if the fuel pump relay isnt working, then the car wont be getting fuel, so yes it would missfire and cut out

yes the calibra is known for its fault fuel pump relays so does cause problems ... there is also the ocv ( think its called that cant quitre remember ) but that again can cause you running problems but a good clean or replacement usually sorts them out

as i found after replacing the fuel pump and filter and relay lol even had the tank off cos thought it was getting a fuel starvation

ICV - Idle Control valve (cleaned mine and it didnt help, prob actually made the idle worse to be honest)

ive changed my AFM, CTS, fuel filter, all the gaskets on the throttle body and inlet manifold. cleaned the throttle body and any breather pipes. im basically left down to a couple of things which include the TPS, Lambda and the fuel pump relay (was blaming the ECU last week cos i had been told so but the guys here and someone else i was talking to have told me this either works or it doesnt)

now i neither have the money or the patience to track it down anymore so im just gona put away a few bob over the coming months and get a monkey to fix it for me. if you can find what it is, ull be in a position to rename yourself johnny eleven pints!!

Cheers for the replies. I ask cos last week sat with the ignition on but engine not running and the em light went off and on several times. To my knowledge it should stay on permanently till the engine is started. I'll change the fuel filter at the weekend and chuck a new relay in.
