Dangers of disconnecting the alarm
Hi all, can anyone tell me if there is any danger when removing the battery? My dad told me on my previous car that I would need to get the ABS reset or something if I disconnected the battery but he does tend to have his "moments". Can anyone tell me if this is true about a 2.0 16v redtop?
Is there anything I should bare in mind when removing the battery so I can access the alarm?
Thanks,
Matt

Same here, had battery off quite a few times, just had to put the ignition to Pos II before disconnecting it otherwise the alarm goes off thinking someone is trying to 'fiddle'. (I think it's sometimes referred to as valet mode).
Only ever had it disconnected for 2 hours or so, but never had any probs with alarm or ABS afterwards.
The ECU will probably lose it's 'learned' values for your style of driving, I think it takes a 100 or so miles to get used to you again.
