Locking the boot with C/L
Hi all. I'm looking at being able to connect the boot lock to the rest of the central locking. What all would I need to look out for with this? Would any cavalier boot lock or motor work? What parts would I require for this? Any help appreciated. Cheers

on mine if the hole for the key is horizontal the boot wont lock
if its vertical it locks when u close the boot. (or turn the key to that position while the boot is closed)
maybe its disabled on mine but it is rather annoying. if it should work id like to know. should only be a case of connecting the solenoid to the alarm. mine is delocked also.

Ok,update. The boot does lock when the key turns the mechanism to the vertical position but it doesn't however make the C/L electrical buzzing sort of noise. What parts will I need to buy to enable the whole car to be made lockable via the boot lock? i.e. when i lock the boot, the rest of the locks trigger and vice versa.

basically all u need to do is connect a cable from the one running to the door solenoid to enable it to do it by remote locking. but i dont know if there is a solenoid on the boot lock. you would need one if there isnt, find someway to fix it to the locking mechanism and something to fix it to to hold it in place and that would be it really.

here's a solenoid from a cav. i remember i took apart and fixed the one on the missus car, but that was years ago and cant really remember much about the process. would need to see whats in there already to give you more detailed instructions. it cant be that hard though as i managed to do it fairly handy. fitting the solenoid to get it to fire the lock would be the hardest part (thats if there isnt one there already) other than that then its just connecting the right wires.

just by searching the threads it appears there is a motor already in place. basically in the vertical position the boot is deadlocked. in the horizontal position, its linked to central locking and at 5 o clock position and push its manual open. next thing then is its prob a dead motor so test the power getting to the solenoid and if that is fine, then replace the motor and it should work. people have suggested they are around 35 quid from vaux but obviously cheaper if you can pick up one somewhere.

Ok I think I follow what you're saying (still gonna take it to a guy who only charges £24hr+vat an hour) but my car doesn't lock via the remote locking. It doesn't lock at all! Except now for the boot if u lock it manually but the car has delocked handles so basically as it stands I'm scuppered...juz hav to sit outside my house with the shotgun.
Just to clarify: The boot locks if the lock is set in the vertical position, if it is in the horizontal position it is open. Under both circumstances the front doors remain unlocked.
So far it sounds like I need a new motor for the rear boot lock then? Is it a different item from the locking mechanism? Like if I got another motor, would I need to use a different key than what I used for the ignition or does it connect to the lock via a series of wires or.....?

As stated if you have the key in the vertical position, it is in every effect now manually locked. If you turn the lock so that it is in the horizontal position it is still being opened manually. However, if you leave it in the horizontal posn and remove the key it will be or should be controlled by the c/l. Try putting the lock in the horizontal posn, remove the key and activate the c/l. Mine doesn't make as such a buzzing noise just a click but it does work the way it should. If this doesn't work then it is something further down the line?
