ecu code 55, but runs fine
i was just driving away from the unit and the ecu light flashed on, i flicked the ignition on and off and it went away, drove back with no problems noises, missfiring, everything fine
stopped at the post office, tryed to restart it didnt start rapidly , it always does, the rev counter flicked up to were 8000 would be and dthe engine tryed a few little atempts at starting
turned off restarted it did the same but with fault light on
tryed again and it started, sounds fine, ecu light is still on,
car drives fine, not limited revs at all
i drove home and read the code, i had code 12, 31 and 55
12, 31 are normal (forgot to try with engine going, off to do it now)
code 55 `ecu fault change ecu` but it runs fine
i think its going to be the damn immobiiser again!
has anyone got a working vx immobiliser from a 95 turbo with electronic speedo (the type with the opel keyfob, NOT the chip in key)
will another immobiliser fit in the car or is it coded to the ecu?

not too sure, i have had my ignition apart and the thing that controls the imobiliser is round the ignition barrel and that is connected to a flat black box, which can be unclipped so it may work like u said if you can take that immobiliser off and replace with a different one with the fob / key to match it may work but again i'm not sure if it is coded to the ecu, may well be as some people get vaux to cut them another key etc with the same immobiliser chip
sorry can't be of more help, could take photos of mine as i still haven't put the shroud back on but will probably be different as mine has the chip in the key, might be worth whipping the shroud off the steering column and just make sure there are no loose connections etc
