Central locking stopped working

by skellem » Sun Aug 06, 2006 9:48 pm

Well, it used to work and now it doesn't!

I have checked all the fuses and there doesn't seem to be one for central locking. Is it hidden elsewhere?

Could someone please point me in the right direction as to where to start checking why it doesn't work. Would it be the black box in the footwell or the door motors?

Ta!

Rusty had this problem the other day and another member did aswell so there is a couple of threads knocking about, IIRC it was the motors.

is it even trying to lock?

if not its probably a fuse or the control unit under the engine ECU in the footwell

Central locking interface is the bottem unit in the drivers footwell. Last 2 pins at the end facing you as you take it out are negative earth switched. Try a earth wire into either of those and it wil either lock or unlock. If it don't, its kaputt!

Well, when I turn the key I hear a slight noise which is either boot or petrol flap solenoid. No doors work though.

I will try the control unit then, I might pop down the scrappy and see if they have a spare one...ta for the comments all.

have you tried locking inside the car, if its just the key it might be a microswitch

I do remember that post, but I have checked all fuses and they seem to be fine. I wish it was a fuse!
