what makes that? or to put it another way .... is it some dodgy bulgarian (etc) effort that becomes throwaway for the sake of a remote control battery?

It is from abroad and is reliable you can add sensors on but at that price even for remote central locking and 2 fobs you cannot go wrong 12 months warranty too
