Sunroof goosed!

Any electrical issues

Sunroof goosed!

by buzzaldrin » Fri Feb 23, 2007 5:13 pm

Just read a thread about whether or not to remove the headlining to fix the sunroof and heard mention of a thread by Animal which explains loads more. Can anyone give me a link or explain what steps I need to be taking?

Cheers.

Sorry guys,

Not had a chance to call in since I left work yesterday.

Anyhow, for some time now the sunroof has only made clunking noises when the button is pressed. When it originally went, I managed to get it closed almost fully, by using the manual winder gadget.

I can't remember if I checked for the small screws to see if they are all in firmly, but is this the first step, as I don't much fancy ripping down the headlining straight away.

from experience check the motor FIRST open it up, i got the clicking sound too, the cogs are made of PLASTIC and see if they have been chewed, as i spent a whole day taking the lining of and complete sunroof out.
then i checked the motor and it was that! i kicked my self for not doing that first ..ohhh fraz was there to help and curse too...lol

Nice one.

Motor checking it is. Don't wanna end up with a saggy lining for no reason. Which reminds me, I'll be selling this when the wife gives birth to our third soon.

Hey ho. I suppose it keeps us out of trouble for a while.

So on first inspection, I can see the little circular white plastic cog going round nice and smooth. It kind of wants to make the sunroof move. Then, however, the clicking begins, as if something is catching, or not catching as the case may be.

And that's it. No movement. No lifting, sliding or bugger all. So does this mean that it could be those springs? And if so, can anyone do an idiots guide to safely removing the roof lining and sorting it.

As usual, all help greatly appreciated.

Cheers boys.

mines making all the noises like it should, jut not moving the sun roof, so is it on rails or anything

if not ill just be transfering one complete sunroof unit from one to another.

can you change the colour bit on the roof though? otherwise mine will have to be red for abit

The car body chassis is different too, you can't mix sunroofs.
