Electric Windows....

Any electrical issues

Electric Windows....

by Dan_85 » Tue Apr 10, 2007 2:56 pm

After removing and replacing my sunroof on my calibra over the weekend, both my electric windows don't "auto-roll" in that now i have to hold the button down all the way and back up all the way to open / close the window. Also dont work with my full-closure alarm either now.

Any ideas why this could of happened? the interior light fuse (15a) popped whilst i removed the headlining for the sunroof job, however that's replaced and working fine now, just the electric windows....

Thanks,
Dan

Have you reset the windows, i.e held the button down when the windows are at the top and bottom?

no....
Do i simply hold the down button when they're down for a few seconds then?

Sounds like a plan!

Glad to help, just remeber to do the same for the upward motion aswell.
Its a common mistake a lot of people forget to reset then after battery removal.

Sorry, I'm sort of hijacking your thread, but I thought it wouldn't matter now that you are sorted. My drivers window has stopped going up and down on "auto", I have done the usual (holding down the button), but instead of giving the normal one click , it just keeps clicking over and over again as long as I hold the button. I've stripped the buttons out of the centre console to check them, but they are ok, I've stripped the door panel, but nothing is loose. This started yesterday when I closed the door with the window halfway up, and it sounded as though the glass was a bit rattly, but after stripping the door I found it's quite secure.

Does the motor have some sort of resistor built into it, which may have blown??
Help pleeeze!!!

Have you checked the runners etc for the window?
It could be the safe guard (stops fingers and small childrens heads getting trapped) stopping the window fully closing.
Do you have a small round button just behind the window switches? this is the override button
I not too sure how the systemworks so would have to do a bit of investigation on my spare door in the garage.

I dont think it's the runners, they seem pretty free of obstructions. The window itself doesn't seem as responsive as it was before, When I press the button it takes a bit longer to start moving than before, even though the power is at the wire of the motor straight away (I checked that with a test light), the thing that puzzles me the most is when the window is fully up and you press the button again ( to make it "auto"), it keeps clicking at the motor. Btw it seems to be going down on "auto" every now and again!?
