URGENT!! sunroof won't close and it's starting to rain

by M005tng » Tue Nov 20, 2007 11:11 am

Hoping somebody can help me....I opened my sunroof this morning to let out the filthy smell my friend had just created and now it won't close again.I only opened it upwards didn't slide it back but now if I try to close it I get nothing but if I try to open it some more I just get a loud clunking noise. Is there anyway I could close it manually for the time being? Appreciate any info anybody can give.cheers. Neil

In the centre of the roof is a plastic circle just behind the sunroof itself remove that and you will be able to use an allen key in there to manually close your roof.

think ive explained this correctly if not im sure someone else will add something :)

if all fails don't worry too much. the sunroof is very well designed, it can cope with the vast majority of rain types/angles so long as its only tilted not moved back. unless the rain is torrential golf ball sized drops and/or being blown horizontal by a hurricane it will probably stay all but dry inside.

instead of opening the sunroof open the door and kick the smelly git out. Then this problem would not arrise.

As said above the sunroof can be open and closed using an allen key... you should see a round blanking cap near the interior light...

tried closing it with the allen key but it just kept unscrewing and out comes a screw with a little cog on.lol.I tried using the the buttons whilst I could see the motor and it turned slightly so the motors not dead.So I pulled the rubber seal from around the sunroof opening and had a peek over the roof lining and it turns out the passenger side runner isn't moving at all when I press the button. But if I try moving the actual sunroof itself with my hands the passenger side moves so it looks like the runner has disconnected somehow.I was thinking of unscrewing the hinge but it looks like its all rivets or something.will I have to take off all the roof lining and if so how do I go about acheiving that.

hi there my sun roof jammed the other day and i got somebody to operate the switch inside while i pushed it from outside toward the front of the car and it shut , i was pretty worried 4 a while but it worked as it wasn't quite forward enough to close.

when I bought my Calibra it came with an allen key for this very purpose, the key was shaped like a cranked handle.
