Electrical problem

Reet then,

Ive got an Red Top engine and just recently its started to play silly buggers!

It was driving absolutely fine untill one day the engine management light came on for a few seconds, then went off.
Then the ABS light came on and also stayed on for about a minute or so.

Took it to my local garage and they tested the battery and alternator, to which they found that the alternator was flumped!

Fitted a new one and was absolutely spot on for about a week, then the fun and ganes started all over again!

So back down to the local garage yet again and the alternator was obviously fine, but the battery was buggered this time.

Bought a new battery, fitted that, and low and behold, today it did the bloody same thing, lights and all!

Im at my feckin wits end, and im hoping some of you guys could help???

Many thanks in advance,

Gareth. :D

Does sound like its running too high voltage. do you own a multimeter you could test the voltage across the battery while charging?

well our lass took the car down to an auto electrician, and he checked the battery, alternator and voltage on the car.

And everything seemed to be fine!

So im now back to square one.

Its possible maybe there are problems wiht both of them. do a search on here for the "paperclip test" and learn how to read off the fault codes and give that a go. :)
