T/C switch on SE9 does nothing when operated?

Operating the t/c switch doesn't appear to do anything on my SE9, do I have to repair, what is it, and will it affect day to day running if I just leave things alone, thanks steve.

Does the light come on the dash ?

Then you need to check the bulb first before you proceed.
