Oil Guage is playing up.

by BMJ » Sun Aug 15, 2010 2:38 pm

Hi Guys,
The oil pressure gauge on my 1995 V6 goes nuts on start up and when cold read's seems like 4 - 8 bar, as the engine gets warm it settles down to normal readings usually between 2 - 5 bar.

Does anyone have an idea as to why it is doing this and a solution? Thank you. :)

Thanks Fraz, I'll give it a shot. :)

I know it only goes to 5 bar VRXORG, but the needle goes right off the scale.

Yes that will be your problem..it will be about to pack in completely and you will find the needle shooting right over and staying there!.. wires are prob corroded as said..will only take 15 mins to sort out.... re-attached securely and cover them up with tape to protect the wires.

it is only the V6 that is right beside the crank pulley, The others are behind the oil pump

The spades are small and wire is thin!..hence it corrodes quite easily..especially with all the crap that gets on it, your right. I've taped mine up to prevent it happening again in the future!

i dont need to put grease on mine, with the amount of oil that run down over it when my cam covers leaked should see it ok for at least a few years
