Any electrical issues

Just bought am M reg 8v automatic. First Calibra and I love it. I had a few questions which were sort of answered with a quick search and it seems that all new owners have the same issues:

1. ABS coming on and off with brakes feeling like they are grinding (had new pads put on) and like they may not stop you. Hasn't come on for a bit so not sure if there is a problem or not.

2. Is the alarm on the car working (Still not sure to be honest, will try the bonnet check noted).

3. The little light coming on the mirror adjuster switch when the heated window is activated. Heated mirrors!!

My others are as follows:

1. My digital temperature display reads --:-- or goes up and down from minus 40 to 6 when I'm driving. Any ideas?

2. I fitted a leather interior and acquired the switch for the heated seats. Will my 8v have the wiring in it as standard on all Callys or did it only come with the cars originally fitted with leather interiors?

The cars are great fun to drive and I thank everyone for all of the posts that help. Any ideas on the two (or three) I'm stuck on?

hi mate,
(1) digital temp display going screwy is probably a sensor malfunction.easy to fix.get a replacement from a scrappy...2 or 3 quid , unplug and remove old sensor and fit new one.

not sure bout seat wiring !!!! sorry

hello and welcome
not sure if you mean you have the ABS light coming on or you mean the actual ABS is actived

could just be a faulty sensor or the sensor wheel is needing a good clean

alarm will only work when you deadlock the car (if its the vauxhall on your on about) and you should see the LED flashing in the small pod at the top of the B piller on drivers side (B pilller is the one where the seat belt is)

the heated mirrors work as you say when you switch on the heated rear screen ..the small led on mirror switch housing works to show you they are on

the 8V did not come with the outside temp gauge so it might not be wired up, someone must have fitted it

it should have the wire plugs for the heated seats under the carpets

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'll fish around for the wires and take out the temp dispaly. The clock works fine on it but the temperature either reads nothing or goes up and down so it must be hooked up to something. Thanks again.

I had the same problem with my temp sensor and it wasn't connect.
If it reads --/-- when dry and goes up when raining then water is probably getting in the connector.
